Step by step instructions :
1 . Do any of the following to invoke Vertical Braces from Input to Auto Tension Load :
Method 1 : Home > Utilities > Utility Functions > Change Options > Vertical Braces from Input to Auto Tension Load .
Method 2 : Click the Vertical Braces from Input to Auto Tension Load icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Edit -- Change Options ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).
Method 3 : If the " Modeling layout style " or " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Edit > Change Options > Vertical Braces from Input to Auto Tension Load .
Method 4, 5 & 6 : Vertical Braces from Input to Auto Tension Load can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the lightning interface, this configuration is done using Customize Interface .
2 . After you invoke this Change option, a selection dialog opens. On it is a list of vertical braces with a " Tension load " that has been entered by the user. Since you cannot perform this operation on vertical braces that have their " Model complete date " set, or on vertical braces whose edit windows are set to " Lock end ," such members do not appear on the list. Each vertical brace is listed by its member number [num] and piecemark.

When you press " OK ," the tension loads of the selected vertical braces will be set to " Auto ." 2a (optional) : Note that a " Print " button is available on this selection dialog so that you can print the list of vertical braces with user-entered tension loads if you like. To list all vertical braces with user-entered tension loads, you can " Show All ."
2b : Select the vertical brace(s) on whose edit windows you want to have " Auto " selected as the " Tension load ," then press " OK ."
3 . " Auto " is selected as the left and right end " Tension load " on the edit window(s) of the vertical brace(s) you selected in step 1. The vertical braces are marked for Process and Create Solids .
Note: The next time you Process and Create Solids , the left/right " Tension load " is recalculated, and the connection design redesigns the gusset plates on both ends of the vertical brace(s) so they stand up to the newly calculated left/right end loads.
